Mission

Nothing has fascinated me more persistently than the nature of interaction between humans and the flora and fauna of our shared ecosystem. The human-animal bond is vital and at times both beautiful, violent and awe-inspiring. I study and practice in realm of the human bond with domestic animals as a companion animal veterinarian.  I investigate the bond that people can have with wildlife through my camera. Though very different from that with domestic species, this connection is no less important and just as gorgeous.  I want my photos to bring joy and awareness so that we may intentionally value, and therefore preserve, the habitat that keeps these animals alive and thriving.

My Story

I grew up in a quiet part of western Connecticut, a small town called Woodbury that valued its unique identity and colonial history. I was lucky enough to be loved by parents who valued animals and surrounded by small scale agriculture. Free time was spent wandering the forest with my dog, capturing snakes and frogs, playing with goats and guinea pigs, riding horses or cleaning up after them, or generally finding some other way to get in trouble with animals. Veterinary school was a natural progression of my education and found me further north, in North Grafton, Massachusetts at Tufts University. After graduation, I explored the Berkshires for almost two years while practicing in Pittsfield, MA and then made my way back to CT before following my dreams and a boy to Southern UT. The American Southwest is a region I had visited for weeks or months at a time before and always wanted to live. So here we are, always adventuring, exploring and learning. All of my photos are taken with a Canon Rebel EOS T3i.
